Photos request

In order to realize this book, close cooperation and willingness from many photographers, whether amateur or professional, will be important. Most of them will be specifically approached by the author for the purpose of obtaining specific photographs. The clear preference is to show fish in their natural colors, photographed alive. If this is not possible and such a photo is not available, then an effort will be made to obtain the rights to publish a specimen from a museum repository, or a drawing will be published if it is available and can be used from a rights perspective (some genera are, of course, very rare, and apart from type specimens, no other findings or photographs are available, for example, Psammphiletria, etc.).

The basic principle is that the fish should be photographed from the side (either left or right) and be perfectly sharp in all parts. Ideal are photos of specimens that are already photographed in this way with a black or gray background (see below left) or where the fish is in a position where such cropping can be easily done (see below right). To a lesser extent, photos from aquariums will also be accepted (logically because it is usually very difficult to photograph fish perfectly in focus here), provided that the environment is as similar as possible to the natural habitat (without visible unnatural elements).

The final selected photo must also be of sufficient quality (I will assess this individually).

As for the remuneration for the photo, this will of course be negotiated individually with each author, but the author will of course be happy if anyone agrees to publication in exchange for a free copy (especially if it is only a few photos).

I am prepared to invest considerable funds in the book so that it contains only the best photographs; without this condition, the book will not be published. The entire book will be published at my own expense.
